In Belarus, the laureates of the president's scholarship refused awards

Applicants for scholarships of the President of Belarus for the support of talented youth, gifted students and students refused awards, the Tut.by portal reports on August 14. An open letter published by the laureates states that it is impossible to accept awards from the president in the current conditions, since the president allows deception and brutal beatings of his fellow citizens in the country. The signatories of the letter also noted that during the voting in the presidential elections in Belarus this choice was made, but was not taken into account. Representatives of talented youth said that the events taking place today in Belarus do not comply with the principles of a free democratic society and do not comply with the charter of the Constitution. It is noted that 100 people signed the letter. Earlier, the news agency reported that protesters disagreed with the announced results of the election of the head of Belarus, in which 80.1% of voters voted for Lukashenko, 10.12% for Svetlana Tikhanovskaya.
