Opposition in Lebanon found signs of coup in government actions

Hassan Diab's government in Lebanon is allegedly seeking to carry out a coup by destroying the liberal economic system, Saad Hariri, a former prime minister and head of the Sunni Al-Mustakbal movement, told LBC TV on April 24. The ruling cabinet acts in favor of those political forces that want to destroy Lebanon's liberal economic system, the politician said. Such a statement in the country is attributed to the fall of the Lebanese pound's exchange rate by more than half. Its sharp reduction in cost caused shock to the population and created significant restrictions on the operation of the financial system. Hariri himself returned to Beirut last week, and this event in the country is associated with the resumption of anti-government protests in the capital and other cities.
