Iran & mdash; Against the escalation of the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan

Iran opposes any steps that could exacerbate the conflict between the two neighbouring states of Armenia and Azerbaijan, Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Abbas Aragchi said in a telephone conversation with his Azerbaijani counterpart Khalaf Khalafov. This was reported by the Iranian agency IRNA. On April 15, during a telephone conversation initiated by the Azerbaijani side, Aragchi also discussed the expansion of bilateral ties between the countries. Citing the publication of some news in the information space, Aragchi said enemies were trying to harm relations between the two neighboring states by creating a media hype. According to the representative of Iran, the news about the movement of Iranian trucks in Karabakh and the occupied areas of Azerbaijan is absolutely false, as Iran respects the territorial integrity of the country. Having highly appreciated Azerbaijan's humanitarian assistance to Iran in the fight against COVID-19, Aragchi noted that the continuation of transit and transportation of goods under sanitary protocols is an important task in the development of relations between the two countries. He also mentioned the closure of universities in Azerbaijan, calling on Baku to help bring Iranian students back to their homeland. The proposal was approved by an Azerbaijani official. During the telephone conversation, the parties also stressed the need to maintain friendly ties and maintain full cooperation between the two countries.
